CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 9, 2009) – After qualifying in the number 1 position Hinbest Racing had to work hard to back up there 6.89 second passes, Michael Hinbest bested his competition and took a resounding victory in the Quick 8 class, the only Arm Drop Live event in Canada and one of the largest attended events in any Ontario drag racing series.

“This is unbelievable,” said an elated Hinbest after the race. “We stayed on our game plan for this deal, and it worked. We didn’t put down any big numbers, but neither did anyone else. We remained consistent throughout, and it paid off.”

Hinbest also noted that he remained calm in the eliminations, and believes this helped.

“There were many great competitors,” he noted. “But with a well planned engine tune up and not trying to rotate the earth we came out on top. Sometimes less is more.”

This was only the second event for Hinbest and the new ERD powered Top Dragster, with Carl Spiering calling the tuning shots and father Roy Hinbest as crew chief there was no doubt we had the knowledge and experience to make some great passes. Hinbest Racing laid down the fastest pass of the weekend going 6.89 @201 MPH in the quarter mile. To be able to win an event when only being out for the second time for the season and brand new with this car shows great promise for Hinbest Racing and the many remaining events.

Hinbest and his team had the NAPA Auto Parts Top Dragster in top form all weekend, and he was quick to praise the efforts of the crew which included his family and friends. “With out the hard work of our crew members and support of family we would not be as successful as we are today,” said Hinbest.

“We have been growing at a rapid momentum; only 3 years ago going in the 12seconds with an s-10 pickup and only 2 years in an 8 second dragster the step up to a 6 second top dragster was an enormous leap forward for the team. The ERD engine program has taken us where we want to go. But I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of the crew and great sponsors including NAPA Auto Part, Tirediscounter.ca, Ideal Supply, Quaker State, Porta-cool, NAPA Brake & Chassis, Fire Ball Coatings, and last but not least Roy’s Service Center & RSC Automotive Sales Consulting. This is a team effort, and they are here with me sharing in this victory.”

The next event for the Hinbest Racing NAPA Auto Parts Top Dragster Team is the Show Me the Money Tour at Grand Bend Motorplex June 13th-14th, and followed by the next Quick 32 race presented by NAPA Auto Parts on June 27th – 28th in Grand Bend, Ontario.
